Helpful Tips for Landscape Maintenance-

MARCH:
Spray Daconil and Volck oil sprays
Fertilizers: Fish emulsion, Milorganite (roots)
Deep root feeding of trees etc.
Use weed preventers – Turn up beds (aerate)

March 25th start with a weed preventer in your beds. We recommend a granule product called Preen. You can us a straight fertilizer now to give your lawn an early start. Then go back to schedule of a 4-step program.

SPRAYS-Insect control of outdoor plants use Volck Oil spray (Ortho product) in late March

APRIL:
Landscape cleanup, trim down grasses, Hydrangea and overall stem and foliage cleanup
April 1st through 25th weed and feed your lawn. We recommend Scotts 4 step plan (granules) or spray service.
April 1st through 15th – First application of fertilizer for all plants. Then every 4-8 weeks after that. We recommend Miracle-Gro, fish emulsion or Milorganite. You can use all products for indoor and outdoor plants. Use Miracid for evergreens, rhododendrons and azaleas every 4-8 weeks.

MAY:
Fertilizers: Everbloom, Miricle-Gro, Miracid
Can remove dead flowers as needed.

JUNE/JULY/AUGUST:
Dust roses; fertilize all plants, first trimming of new foliage. Always wait until plant is finished flowering before trimming.
Use Ironite on plants if needed, refer to directions on label. Some other plants may need spraying for various reasons. Leave foliage standing on most bulbs.

SEPTEMBER:
Trimming again in fall, except Magnolias, Red Bud, Lilac and Witchazel. Fertilize all plants.

OCTOBER/NOVEMBER:
Winterize to strengthen plants. Deep roots feeding fertilize all plants. Can leave foliage on perennial flowers.
